Our three month old Squishy

This post is 8 days late because Squishy got his first cold a day before he turned three months old. ๐Ÿ˜ข I think we were sadder than Squishy. He only seemed less active than usual for a day and then he was back to his normal smiley self (only with a runny nose and cough). The only time he cried was when we would use the nasal aspirator on him. My goodness! The look he would give us when we would suck his boogies out. It was like we were betraying him!

Thankfully, after five days of using a nebulizer (with sodium chloride/salt water), his cold seemed to have run its course and we didn’t need to start antibiotics. Thank goodness. He’s still so little! I was worried about putting him on antibiotics so soon.

Anywhooo, the day before Squishy turned 3 months old, we visited his doctor and found out that he weighed 14.7 lbs!

Squishy has a very hat-able head!

I think Squishy’s been trying to turn over since he was two months old, and he finally turned over from his back to his tummy on December 7! At first he was really struggling with it. So much so that he would cry when he wasn’t successful. But by December 8, he was doing it so quickly and smoothly! He would grip whatever he could to help pull himself to tummy time position. He can hang out on his tummy for 10-15 minutes now, but after a while, I think his arms get tired and he wails and goes face down on the mattress ๐Ÿ˜…. That’s when we have to turn him back. I don’t know when he’ll be able to roll over the other way (tummy to back), but the different sites say that it’s usually just a few weeks apart so maybe any day now.

New challenges with the rolling over phase: changing his diaper and dressing him up takes longer now. ๐Ÿ˜… Also, he’ll roll over in his sleep and wake himself up sometimes. ๐Ÿ˜”

Uh oh. The co-sleeper’s days are numbered!

His hand-eye coordination is getting better! He can get his hands in his mouth effortlessly. He puts everything he holds in his mouth! ๐Ÿ˜… He’s also drooling A LOT. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Hands are yummy!

He sleeps better at night though! We can sometimes get 5-6 hours of sleep! But we learned that he loves sleeping with us in bed. He definitely sleeps longer when he’s next to his Momma and Papa. Maybe it’s time to get a bigger bed. ๐Ÿ˜…

Ummm, that’s my spot, Squish.

We love reading to Squishy! And we think he likes it too! I try to read to him at least once a day! There are days when we can go through four board books or one story book. He pays attention when we read! He listens, looks at the pictures, and responds to changes in our tone! We try to make it as interactive as possibleโ€”acting out the action words, touching him, asking him questions, giving him time to “respond”, and personalizing the story to include him. We love Neil Gaiman and Adam Rex’s Chu books! We always get big smiles when we act out the sneezes. Another favorite is Bill Martin Jr.’s Chicka Chicka Boom Boom because it’s sing-songy. And we’re enjoying Deborah Diesten’s The Pout Pout Fish because we all get smooches in the end!

Lazy Sunday afternoon with Papa and Uncle Bill (and my Christmas cookie)!

Squishy’s neck is also stronger. When we carry him and we’re out, he turns to the left and right looking around. Can’t wait for him to learn how to sit up on his own! โค

It’s a whole different world form up here!

Gah! I can’t believe it’s only 4 days until Christmas! ๐ŸŽ„My Christmas game is so weak this year (we didn’t get to put our tree up and we won’t be able to catch Rogue One ๐Ÿ˜ข). But this season has never been more magical. We’re so in love with our little boy!

Domestic life was never quite my style
When you smile, you knock me out I fall apart and I thought
I was so smart

You will come of age with our young nation
We’ll bleed and fight for you
